AAIKO was founded in Amsterdam in 2006 by Pauline Brakenhoff. It is run by women, designed for women, and our team is majority women. That isn't a value statement we added later — it is the company we built.
There is always a two-sidedness to be found in Aaiko. That's actually already in the name: in Japanese, Aaiko means "beloved," while Old German translates this to "tough". And that also shapes our brand and our customers. The Aaiko woman is versatile in every way, but certainly always feminine and strong, soft and powerful. That endless versatility of the Aaiko woman will always be a source of inspiration for us.
