Designer

  • Full-time
  • Amsterdam HQ
  • start Sept 2026
  • 40 hours / week

Are you a strong, conceptual designer with a keen eye for branding? Do you get energized by building a brand and translating a brand story into striking, consistent designs? Then this role at Aaiko is for you.

Do you have a strong sense of fashion, trends, and commerce, and can you effortlessly translate this into collections that are both innovative and recognizable? Do you have extensive experience in womenswear and know exactly what a collection needs to be both commercial and creative? Then we are looking for you.

Your role

As a Fashion Designer, you play an important role in AAIKO's creative process. Based on our brand identity, trends, and commercial insights, you contribute to developing strong, innovative, and distinctive collections.

You have a good understanding of the AAIKO woman and know what she wants to wear. You follow market developments but always manage to translate trends into a unique and recognizable AAIKO signature.

From inspiration and collection framework to the final product: you are involved in the entire design process and elevate our collections to a higher level each season. You work closely with the Design, Marketing, Buying, and Product Technician teams. You have daily contact with our international suppliers.

As a designer within the team, you take responsibility, bring experience, and are a substantive and inspiring sparring partner for the Creative Director and your colleagues.

Your responsibilities

As a Designer at Aaiko, your responsibilities include:

  • Designing and developing 4 Aaiko women's and 2 kids collections per year.
  • Identifying and translating international fashion and lifestyle trends into designs for Aaiko.
  • Developing and elaborating concepts, color cards, designs, technical drawings, and tech packs.
  • Daily contact with suppliers for collection development from proto phase to samples.
  • Maintaining a good balance between fashion, commerce, and the recognizable AAIKO signature.
  • Actively participating in fittings and proto-meetings.
  • Working closely with Buying throughout the entire development process, also contributing ideas on price and quality.
  • Shopping trips, visiting trade fairs, and traveling to production countries.
  • Presenting the collection to the Aaiko team.
  • Monitoring deadlines and maintaining an overview of multiple collections and development phases simultaneously.

Who are you

You are an experienced fashion designer with a distinct sense of style and a strong commercial eye. You can think ahead, quickly identify what a collection is missing, and know when a design is good. You are creative but understand that a successful collection ultimately needs to be worn and sold.

We are looking for a designer who:

  • Has a completed, relevant HBO degree.
  • Has a strong affinity for fashion, brands, and trends, and a strong sense of color, material, silhouette, and styling.
  • Brings at least 2 years of relevant work experience, preferably in womenswear in the mid to high segment.
  • Has good technical product and fabric knowledge.
  • Has a good command of Dutch and English.
  • Works creatively, proactively, and independently, while also being energized by collaborating within a team.
  • Has experience with Illustrator.
  • Has a keen eye for detail, can manage deadlines well, and dares to take initiative.

What we offer

  • A challenging position within an ambitious and growing fashion brand.
  • Plenty of room for personal initiative and responsibility.
  • A creative, informal, and inspiring work environment.
  • A market-conform salary and employment conditions.
  • Staff discount on our collections.
  • Lunch and sports training at the office.
