your role
As Senior Fashion Designer you play an important role within AAIKO's creative process. Drawing on our brand identity, trends and commercial insight, you help develop strong, innovative and distinctive collections.
You have a good feel for the AAIKO woman and know what she wants to wear. You follow market developments, but always know how to translate trends into your own, recognisable AAIKO signature.
From inspiration and collection framework to the final product: you're involved in the entire design process and take our collections to a higher level every season. You work closely with the Design, Marketing, Buying and Product Technician teams. You're in daily contact with our suppliers abroad.
As a senior within the team, you take ownership, bring experience, and are a substantive and inspiring sparring partner for the Creative Director and your colleagues.
Your responsibilities
As Senior Designer at Aaiko you're responsible for, among other things:
- Designing and developing 4 Aaiko womenswear and 2 kids collections per year.
- Spotting and translating international fashion and lifestyle trends into designs for Aaiko.
- Developing and working out concepts, colour cards, designs, technical drawings and tech packs.
- Daily contact with suppliers for the development of the collection from proto stage to samples.
- Maintaining a good balance between fashion, commerce and the recognisable AAIKO signature.
- Actively participating in fittings and proto meetings
- Working closely with Buying throughout the entire development process, including contributing ideas on price and quality.
- Shopping trips, trade show visits and travel to production countries
- Presenting the collection to the Aaiko team.
- Managing deadlines and keeping an overview across multiple collections and development phases at the same time.
who you are
You're an experienced fashion designer with a distinct sense of style and a strong commercial eye. You can think ahead, quickly spot what a collection is missing, and know when a design works. You're creative but understand that a successful collection ultimately has to be worn and sold.
We're looking for a designer who:
- Holds a completed, relevant bachelor's degree
- Has a strong affinity with fashion, brands and trends, and a strong feel for colour, material, silhouette and styling.
- Brings at least 5 years of relevant work experience, preferably within womenswear in the mid- to upper segment
- Has good technical product and fabric knowledge.
- Has a good command of Dutch and English.
- Works creatively, proactively and independently, while also drawing energy from creating together within a team.
- Has experience with Illustrator
- Has a sharp eye for detail, handles deadlines well, and isn't afraid to take initiative.
